Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 1 package pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

Meat and Seasonings

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional but delicious!)
  • ½ cup pepperoni slices

Vegetables and Extras

  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms
  • ¼ cup sliced bell peppers
  • ¼ cup sliced pickles (optional, for a real burger vibe)

Other Ingredients

  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing the crust)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease your baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat, then season the meat with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to infuse it with flavor.
  3. Roll Out the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large circle that will fit your baking dish with some dough overhanging the edges for sealing later.
  4. Assemble the Bake: Place the rolled dough into the greased pie dish. Spread half of the pizza sauce evenly on the dough’s base. Layer with the cooked ground beef, sprinkle mozzarella cheese, add crumbled bacon, pepperoni slices, mushrooms, bell peppers, and pickles if using. Spoon over the remaining pizza sauce and finish with the remaining mozzarella cheese for a cheesy topping.
  5. Seal and Brush: Fold the overhanging dough over the filling, pinching the edges tightly to seal the filling inside the crust. Brush the top with olive oil for a golden, glossy finish when baked.
  6. Bake: Place the assembled pizza burger bake in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbling deliciously.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the dish to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve hot to enjoy the melty, hearty flavors with every serving.

Notes

  • Use a deep-dish pie plate to hold all the fillings securely and prevent overflow.
  • Precook vegetables like mushrooms and bell peppers if you prefer them softer and less crunchy.
  • Place parchment paper under the dough in the pie dish for easier lifting and cleanup.
  • Allow the dough to rest at room temperature for 10 minutes before rolling to make shaping easier and dough more pliable.
